February Fun

I have always felt like February was the turning of the page on a new year. January always feels like a recovery month from excitement and hustle and bustle of the end of the year holidays. That it feels like it takes me until February for me to feel back into a rhythm (it also helps that there is usually real snow here by then and our winter activities can be in full swing).

We started February with Dillon and Rayleigh finishing their first Shakespearian production.

We also enjoyed our annual viewing of the Banff Film Festival. I was excited to get to watch 2 different sets of films (there are 4 separate lineups available). If you aren’t familiar with the Banff Film festival and are also an adrenaline junkie, I highly recommend looking into it.

We celebrated Dillon’s birthday with friends and watched the Adirondack Thunder (our local ECHL hockey team) win against the Worcester Railers.

We were luck enough to get a good snow pack and then have temperatures stay low enough that winter snow activities have been great! Activities have included fat biking in the snow, visiting The Wild Lights at The Wild Center, the ice castle in Saranac Lake, snowboarding and sledding.

As a bonus last weekend got an unexpected last minute chance to race in a Fat Bike Race at Winding Hills Golf Course. This race is sponsored by a LBS near Middleton, NY and the organizes are AMAZING. Here’s a few pics from our fun race and a pic of us with our 1st place trophies.

There’s more of February to come. There are puddles forming on the Hudson, meaning open water will soon be visible, and we have another 6″ of snow forecast for this week. So until it is officially too warm to play, we will continue our snowy adventures.
