Daily recap

Today, we drove a lot, visited the highest point in Mississippi, drove a lot more, and bedded down for the night just outside of Memphis.

Highlights

  • Visiting Mount Woodall, the highest point in Mississippi
A photo of a plaque embedded in a boulder that says "Woodall Mountain: highest point in Mississippi, 806 feet"
We drove to the top of Woodall Mountain, the highest point in Mississippi, all 806 feet of it.
  • Seriously. That’s it. The rest of the day was just a lot of driving in the rain.

Other photos from today

A photo of Rayleigh, Kelsey, Kevin, Ainsley, Grayson, and Dillon standing on top Mount Woodall, the tallest point in the state of Mississippi, with trees and a communications tower in the background
Surprisingly, it was actually cold on top of Mount Woodall, despite the relatively modest elevation gain.
A photo of Ainsley standing on top of a large rock with her hands in the air
Ainsley might be a whopping 810 feet above sea level by standing on top of this rock.

And now for your moment of zen…

A photo of a sign taped to a glass door that says "Pool is close for the season."
Apparently, Tennesseans don’t have the same sensibility about appropriate temperatures for outside swimming as we upstate New Yorkers do.
